Fruit stalls give respite to people from summer heat

As the scorching summer heat intensifies, fruit stalls along the eastern side of DM College, spanning from North AOC to Chingmeirong, have become a popular spot for people to cool down and refresh themselves.
Over 22 fruit stalls now operate in the area, offering a wide variety of seasonal fruits.
Athokpam Seema, a 39-year-old fruit vendor from Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai, has been running her stall for two years.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Seema said that fruit stalls have emerged as a popular destination for those seeking relief from the summer heat, adding, "People come here to escape the heat and enjoy fresh fruits." Seema's stall offers a range of fruits, including apples, dragon fruits, grapes, watermelons, lemons, and mangoes.
She also prepares a fruit salad, combining various fruits, which is priced at Rs 50 per serving.
Apart from selling seasonal fruits Seema said she also offers a refreshing fruit salad made with a mix of fruits, banana juice (Rs 30), mango juice (Rs 50), pineapple juice (Rs 50) and lemon juice (Rs 30) .
Saying that her daily sales range from Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000, she added that she procure her fresh produce from wholesalers and fruit growers to stock her stall.
