Fire Service Week observation kicks off

Joining the rest of the country, Manipur Fire Service kicked off the celebration of Fire Service Week today on the theme, "Ensure Fire Safety, Contribute towards Nation Building" at its headquarters near Imphal Pologround.
National Fire Service Day/Week (NSW) is celebrated every year in India from April 14 to 20 to commemorate the brave Fire Fighters, who lost their lives during a ship explosion at the Mumbai dockyard in 1944 .
The inaugural function was Home Department, Commissioner, H Gyan Prakash; Manipur Fire Services, Director, L Nabachandra; former Director, N Noren; Fire Officer, Th Samson and Raj Medicity, managing director H Rajen as presidium members.
During the event, awards presented by the Director General of Fire Service, Civil Defence & Home Guards, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India were handed over to Senior Fireman Aheibam Tombisana and Mutum Priyokumar Singh.
Awards given by the Director, Manipur Fire Service were also handed over to A Manihar Singh, Fireman, Fire Sub Station Mayang Imphal; Pasel Vikan Anal, Fireman, Fire Sub Station Chandel;' Md Gulbash, Fireman, Fire Sub Station Moreh and W London Singh, Driver, Fire Sub Station Imphal.
Later, a team of Manipur Fire Service conducted a demonstration on fire safety and evacuation.
