At least 11 shops and all the goods inside them have been gutted in a devastating fire that broke out in the wee hours today at Lilong Bazar in Thoubal district.
According to information culled from the site of the fire, it broke out at around 3 am and it is suspected that the fire may have been ignited from gas leakage in a hotel.
Pharmacy, grocery, hotel and RCV retailer were among the 11 shops that have been gutted.

Sources from the Fire Service Department said that the report of the fire was received at around 3.37 am and immediately firemen were rushed to combat the fire along with three fire tenders and one mini truck with pumpset.
It took nearly 2 hours to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading.
Though the exact loss in the fire has not yet been worked out, the loss is estimated to be lakhs of rupees.
A relief camp for the fire victims has been set up at Lilong Bazar.
