Imphal, December 31 2023:
The State unit of Shiv Sena has asked the State Government and all those who occupy the seats of power to make their stand on Manipur violence clear.
Speaking to the media persons at Babupara today, Shiv Sena, State unit president M Tombi said that none of the MPs from Manipur said a word about the protracted violence in the recent winter session of the Parliament and it was disheartening.
Claiming that the Meeteis have been living like refugees in its own land, M Tombi said that the failure in re-launching Imphal-Mao and Imphal-Churachandpur MTS bus services recently is a clear example of Meeteis being restricted to a tight corner.
Why is the Government unable to enforce law and order in hill districts, he asked.
Expressing sorrow over the murder of a village volunteer at Mayanglangjing Maning and the ambush on State force at Moreh yesterday, he maintained that the repeated attacks on Meetei villages by Kuki militants and their associates expose the incapacity of the Government in enforcing law and order uniformly.
Does arresting Wangkhemcha Shyamjai, the Editor of Kangleipakki Meira, for a minor mistake instead of pardoning him count as safeguarding Manipur to the Government, he asked and appealed to the Government to release the Senior Editor at the earliest.
Despite repeated appeals, the Government is still not convening a meeting of all political parties nor summon a proper Assembly session to discuss the situation in Manipur, Tombi rued and continued that none of the MPs raised the issue of Kuki narco-terrorists and their associates encroaching on forest land and demanding separate administration for Kuki-Zo people in the recent Parliament session and it was shameful.
Appealing to all political party presidents in Manipur to not give their tickets to people who won't think about the State in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, M Tombi asked why is the BJP not taking any action against its MLAs who openly endorse the demand to disintegrate Manipur.
He also expressed disappointment over the Prime Minister maintaining studied silence on Manipur violence.
