Imphal, July 29 2025:
An applicant has raised suspicions about irregularities in the recruitment of teachers (Gurus) at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) which is a constituent unit of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
Speaking to the media at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club today, an applicant by the name of Hanglem Indu alleged that the applicant appointed to the post of Rasdhari Guru does not have a post graduate diploma in this field.
Questioning how such an individual has been appointed as Guru, she demanded a response from the JNMDA Director.
According to Hanglem Indu, an advertisement was published in newspapers on April 1 for the recruitment of 1 Pradhan Guru, 5 Guruhau and 4 Gurus.
Many submitted applications for the post of Guru (Rasdhari) and Guru (Sutradhari).
The eligibility criteria required for the two posts were: a post graduate diploma in the respective artforms, 7 years experience from a reputed institute or a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Alleging that the candidate selected for the Guru (Rasdhari) post does not have a PG diploma, Hanglem Indu urged the Governor of Manipur, who is also the Chairman of JNMDA, to facilitate a do-over of the recruitment process.
