AMACSU celebrates, honours artistes

Imphal, May 26 2025: All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU) celebrated its 26th foundation day on Monday at the auditorium of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, here, with awards presented to artistes from 19 different fields of art and culture for their outstanding contributions.

Speaking at the event, AMACSU president Koijam Premkanta informed that the foundation day celebration is a regular calendar programme of the union.

As part of the event, awards were given in 19 different fields of art including dance, music, Thang-Ta, Pung, Pena, drama, Shumang Leela and elder artistes.

Premkanta noted that the awardees are selected from among those who have made significant contributions in their respective fields but are yet to receive any government recognition.

He urged the government, especially departments concerned with art and culture, to give greater priority to artistes in job recruitment.

The president also informed that AMACSU has submitted a representation to the government seeking the opening of more departments in the Manipur University of Culture.

He further highlighted the union's ongoing initiatives, including conducting awareness programmes on art and culture in schools in line with the National Education Policy 2020 .
