PM should speak on Kuki aggression too: AMUCO

While expressing deep shock and anguish over the incident of parading two women naked by some people, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has asserted that Prime Minister Narendra ought to speak out on the aggression of Kuki militants who are sponsored by immigrant drug cartels from Myanmar.
Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office today, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang remarked that the Prime Minister has finally spoken after a video of two women paraded naked went viral.
Other than his condemnation/comment on the particular episode, the Prime Minister has not yet spoken a single word on the violent crisis besieging the State even though is now 80 days old.
The Government of India's failure to take up tangible actions regarding the crisis is one reason for occurrence of unwanted and abominable incidents, Nando said.
He said that the Government of India should be held accountable for the unwanted and detestable incidents which unfolded in the last couple of days.
Even though the Government of India is fully aware that armed Kuki militants from Myanmar have been attacking innocent public and creating mayhem in Manipur, the Government of India has not spoken a single word.
The Prime Minister too has been maintaining a deafening silence, he said.
The Government of India ought to inform the public about the current National security situation, the AMUCO president said.
It is a matter of grave concern that the Government of India opts to remain silent when Kuki militants openly challenge the National security by launching a war against the people of Manipur, he said.
The way the two women were paraded naked is extremely shocking and painful.
"We condemn the bestial act and the law should take its own course against the perpetrators", he said.
Like they condemned and commented on the particular incident, the Government of India ought to speak out on other heinous crimes too like killing people in cold blood after blindfolding them on the edge of pits and pushing them inside the pits after shooting them.
"We would like the Government of India to express its views and opinions on capturing people and orchestrating their involuntary disappearances", Nando continued.
He also expressed strong suspicion that some agents have been working clandestinely to defame and derail the ongoing people's movement to protect the State's integrity.
He then appealed to all the people, particularly youngsters, who have been struggling to save Manipur to be wary of such elements.
The AMUCO president appealed to all the people not to do anything which may portray the ongoing movement in the wrong light or create misunderstanding.
He also appealed to all concerned not to commit excesses upon women and children.
AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani too condemned the incident of parading two women naked in the strongest terms.
All the people need to understand that the war fought at present is a proxy war, she said.
"All the people need to have a clear idea about the ongoing struggle and the path we should take collectively.
All must stop acting separately and independently", Kunjarani said.
She also highlighted the need for exhaustive discussion and to arrive at a consensus before taking any action.
She appealed to the Government to investigate the genesis of the ongoing conflict and stop the proxy war.
Taking strong exception to the recent killing and assault on women, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi has decried that assaulting women and children are acts of deranged and morally corrupt men, she said.
The ongoing struggle should be waged after understanding it in its entirety.
Any attempt to derail or portray the collective struggle in the wrong light is highly condemnable, Memchoubi added.
