Training programme on 'Holi-Gaan' concludes, 'Holi Sankirtana' presented

The training programme on "Festival of Holi Sankirtana, Holi-Gaan, Festival of Colours 2023" organised by SHEIDAMKOL concluded today at Gurumayum Mandap in Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai.
The training programme was conducted under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
The valedictory function was attended by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
(JNMDA), Director, P Bilash; theatre director Dr Lamabam Gojendra Singh; Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Sougrakpam Hemanta and Ph Maheshwari Devi of Crime Against Women & Children as presidium members.
Delivering the keynote address, Festival director Ningthoujam Tarunbala Devi said that the training programme was conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture with the objective to promote & preserve the different forms of 'Manipuri Sankirtana'.
P Bilash elaborated on the need to teach traditional art forms including Sankirtana to the present generation in order to promote & preserve the cultural heritage of Manipur.
Meanwhile, a new production of TAPASYA, a centre for performing arts, titled "Holi Sankirtana" was presented today at its office premise in Singjamei Wangma Pebiya Pandit Leikai.
"Holi Sankirtana" was produced under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
The function was graced by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee S Noyonsakhi and Ustad BismiHah Khan Yuva Puraskar awardee & Director of TAPASYA Mayanglambam Sobhamani as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Noyonsakhi lauded the role taken by TAPASYA in the preservation and promotion of the art & culture of Manipur.
"TAPASYA is an influential cultural centre that has been striving hard with utmost dedication in enriching the arts and culture of Manipur.
Apart from grooming many young and disciplined artists, the cultural centre has also successfully produced many noteworthy products that contain the cultural ethos and heritage of the State from time to time", she added.
Mayanglambam Sobhamani expressed concern that there is a misconception about considering those who work in the field of arts and culture as the agents for spreading religion among some sections of the society.
Highlighting that TAPASYA and other cultural organisations are not like the missionary groups which work on spreading the ideologies of religion, Sobhamani said, "The rich arts and culture of the State will be undermined and dwindled if such delusions are not removed".
Showcasing the arrays of the artistic performances of the Holi Sankirtana were the main highlights of the event.
