Thoubal, June 09 2025:
In continuation of the Go Green Go Clean Campaign, the EcoNetwork Manipur for the 24th time collected plastic waste materials from dumping sites to recycle and convert into money.
Urging the people to not burn plastic waste at dumping sites, the EcoNetwork Manipur has said that burning of plastic waste may diminish the chances of recycling the waste materials and has severe consequences for both human health and the environment.
"The burning of plastic waste can also lead to contamination of the soil, spread of diseases including respiratory issues, cancer, and other health problems.
In addition such practices may also affect the ecology affecting plant life and various wildlife", stated the EcoNetwork Manipur in a release.
It further stated that the recent man made disaster in the State, including the recent flood situation that wreaked havoc in the State was caused by the accumulation of plastic waste in rivers, drainage, etc .
Furthermore, the EcoNetwork Manipur has appealed for collective effort in tackling the plastic wastage by developing other sustainable alternatives like recycling.
