Imphal, July 07 2025:
Transportation of fuels to IOCL's Malom Depot has been suspended after the fuel loading point located at Silchar, Assam disallowed POL TTs from Manipur to load fuel on the ground that the TTs are unfit.
As per rules, all the TTs engaged in transporting fuel from Silchar to Malom Depot must have a helper (cleaner) each.
POL transporters of Manipur know this rule and they signed the transport contract with full knowledge of the same rule, sources said.
Loading fuel without helpers creates problems at the loading point.
That is why, POL TTs are not allowed to load fuel at Silchar loading point, said the sources.
With the TTs not allowed to load fuels, transportation of fuel to Malom Depot has been suspended.
Meanwhile, the transporters have been urging the IOCL to make an alternative arrangement as there is no one willing to work as helper.
POL transporters of Manipur do not pay monthly salary to TT helpers on the ground that they are being trained to become drivers.
As such, no one in Manipur is willing to work as a helper, the sources added.
