Imphal, August 01 2024:
The JNIMS Students' Association has called for the appointment of a qualified & eligible director to replace the incumbent JNIMS Director Laishram Deven Singh, whose tenure is finishing soon.
Addressing a press conference today at Manipur Press Club, Laishram Lenin Singh, president of JNIMS Student's Association, shared that following a notice issued on July 27, the tenure of Dr L Deven which was originally set to end on July 7 has been extended by a month.
He pointed out that the 20 days without a Director has been a challenge for the institution, citing issues such as water shortage in the hostels, malfunctioning fans, ACs in classrooms, and difficulties in organising functions efficiently.
He continued that these problems have led students to believe that the Government is not adequately supporting the institution, endangering the academic careers of the students.
He also lamented that there have been several instances where individuals were appointed as Director without fulfilling the necessary criteria, which had caused significant stress and negatively impacted the students' careers.
Further, Lenin urged the Government to appoint an eligible and qualified doctor as the new Director to save the careers of the students.
