Hectic shopping marks curfew break

Imphal, July 11 2015 :
Khwai-ramband market and other market places saw unusual huge crowds as people made beelines to purchase groceries and other essential commodities during the five hours curfew break this morning.
The State has been under complete shutdown since the evening of July 8 following the death of Sapam Robinhood.
Imphal West District Magistrate yesterday ordered relaxation of the indefinite curfew for five hours from 5am to 10am today during which shops and markets, pharmacies, oil pumps etc opened after three days.

Shops and vendors of Khwairamband and other market places like Lamlong Keithel, Singjamei, Naorem-thong, Konungmamang, Pishumthong were opened since early morning today.
The market places saw the busiest day as hundreds of buyers throng-in to buy groceries and other needful.
By 10am most of the shoppers dispersed on their own leaving only a handful of vendors who were scrapped away by police personnel deployed to avoid any unwanted incident.
Post 10 am, the streets of Khwairamband took a deserted look as one after another people returned to their homes leaving only the security personnel to perform their duty.
