No govt assistance to injured police officer

Imphal, July 11 2015 : Condition of former Nambol Police Officer-in-Charge Lisham Premchand who was attacked by some persons while conducting raid at a house of Nambol Chingmang on September 30 last to seize marijuana is still in critical condition at Shija Hospital.

Premchand has been undergoing treatment since the last nearly nine months but still he cannot not speak nor could he understand what others speak.

He was critically injured while he was on his official duty, Premchand's wife Kheroda emotionally said.

Till today nearly Rs 25 lakh has been spent only on hospital charge, she said.

In February last Premchand got discharged from hospital for some days and at that time the amount of hospital charge was about Rs 15 lakh.

But about Rs five lakh was deducted in the process of reimbursement while Premchand was still in critical condition.

Till today the dutiful officer has not received any assistance from the State Govt.which tried to fulfil his duty as Govt.employee apart from police department and his close friends who helped him, said Kherodawhile adding that now it becomes their personal matter.

Kheroda also expressed her dissatisfaction with Home Minister and Deputy CM Gaikhangam's statement who confirmed that the alleged accused were in judicial custody when Premchand's matter was discussed in the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

Revealing that accused are now on bail she also demanded drastic action against them.

Meanwhile, Ex-MLA Khumukcham Joykishan visited Premchand in Shija Hospital and donated some amount to help him in his treatment.

Joykishan said that he came to visit Premchand only when he came to heard that the former OC who was attacked on his duty is lying in critical condition.

Promising to help all Manipur Police Personnel who get injured during their duty against drug the Ex-MLA also appealed to all walks of life to co-operate each other while campaigning to eradicate intoxicates and drugs from Manipur since it has become the main factor for today's generations'downfall.
