A half-day poets' meet held

The Sahitya Akademi Kolkata in association with Malem Ayeekol Khabam Lamkhai Imphal East, today organised A Half-Day Poets' Meet at Ashei Ningthou Garden located at Matai village, Khabam Lamkhai.
During the function, the convenor of the Manipuri Langauge Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi Prof H Behari Singh expressed that the movement of the women writers of Manipur has gained momentum and people of the State have been influenced by their literary works.
He also encouraged the women writers to contribute finer literary works in the coming years.
The voices of the women should gather enough strength so as to face challenges of the time, Prof Behari further said and also made a general appeal to nourish the habit of book reading published by Manipuri writers.
The function of the poets' meet was presided by the president of the Malem Ayeekol W Mohendra Singh and the Programme Officer of the Sahitya Akademi Kolkata Dr Mihir Kumar Sahoo was also present in the function.
The Sahitya Akademi awardee Makhonmani Mongsaba chaired the academic session of the poets' meet in which H Benubala Devi, Subadani Chongtham Ongbi, Dr H Nalini Devi, L Ibeyaima Devi, RK Sanahanbi Devi, S Bilashini Devi, RK Hemabati Devi, Dr K Shantibala Devi, K Joymati Devi and T Sorojini Devi presented their poems.
