Thoubal, July 20 2023: Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL) urged all concerned not to disintegrate Manipur based on the narrow perception of hills and valleys.

Thoubal Apunba Lup is an apex body of 30 local clubs and organisations in Thoubal district.

Taking part in the activities of defending their villages by Meira Paibis at Thoubal Melaground Yairipok Lamkhai yesterday night under the aegis of TAL, its Secretary AK Jibankumar said that Manipur has been existing as a peaceful State for years maintaining peaceful co-existence among the various indigenous communities.

Therefore it is not possible to divide the State on the mere grounds of hills and valleys, he said.

With regards to demand for a separate administration based on communal basis, he maintained that such demands should never be fulfilled.

He went on to state that TAL strongly condemns the failure of the Government to curb the proxy war sponsored by Kuki militants based on ethnic cleansing which has been going on for more than two months.

The indifferent attitude of the Union Home Minister on the demand for a separate administration raised by the 10 Kuki MLAs and the Prime Minister's silence on Manipur crisis is highly questionable and it clearly reflects the biased attitude of the Centre towards the State, he added.

He further asserted that Thoubal Apunba Lup will firmly fight against the divisive forces sponsored by illegal narcotics business to disintegrate Manipur.

Taking into consideration the gravity of the issue, he appealed to all to take collective stand to save the indigenes from the issue of drugs and narco terrorism.

Jibankumar also urged the Government to convene a special assembly session and take resolutions in the interest of the State.

He further appealed to the civil society organisations, political leaders and intellectuals to come together and carve out measures for a developed future of Manipur and informed that the Lup will always work in accordance with the wishes of the people.
