Legal awareness campaign held

Imphal, October 19 2024: A Legal Awareness Campaign was conducted today at Areca School, North AOC Imphal on the topic, "POCSO Act, JJ Act, Basic Legal Child Rights" .

The campaign was organised by Legal Aid Club (LAC), Project "G" under the sponsorship of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA).

It was attended by MASLSA, Project Consultant, RK Sujata; Women Police Station, Imphal East, SI, RK Babina Devi; MASLSA Panel Advocate & All Manipur Bar Association vice president, Brahmacharimayum Supriya Devi; Areca School principal, Khanghemmeiru Gangmei and PROJECT "G" board committee member Longjam Samson as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, LAC Project "G" legal in-charge Wangthoi Yengkhom expressed concern over the alarming rise of assault and harassment against women and children in the State as well as the country.

She stated that the public should be more vigilant and aware of these cases and such awareness campaigns can help the people combat such assault or harassment.

She also asserted that Project "G" has been organising campaigns in various schools across the State to spread awareness about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and the basic legal rights of children.

Resource persons gathered at the awareness campaign also spoke on various topics of POCSO and JJ Act.
