Wangkhei Angom Leikai, Nongmeibung areas still inundated

Imphal, June 09 2025: While floodwaters have receded in most of the affected areas, many parts of Wangkhei Assembly Constituency namely Nongmeibung, Wangkhei Angom Leikai and surrounding areas under Ward No 21 are still inundated.

According to sources, the water was supposed to drain out to 'Kongba Basin Takhelkhong Maril', on the southern side of Kongpal Mutum Leikai.

Despite initial signs of receding, Nongmeibung, Wangkhei Angom Leikai and surrounding areas remain inundated due to the blocking of the outlet of the main drain, reportedly caused by the ongoing construction work of Sewage Pumping Station taken up by Keystone Infra Private Limited.

Also, encroachment on the drain course has significantly hindered the flow of the floodwaters.

The locals have appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take necessary steps to mitigate the sufferings of the people affected by the devastating floods.
