Thang-Ta workshop concludes

The 15-Days Thang-Ta Workshop organised by Eastern Thang-Ta Organisation concluded today at its premises in Tangkham Maning Leikai, Imphal East district.
The valedictory function was graced by dignitaries, including Sarit Sarak Association Manipur president, Laishram Lashamon Singh; Meitei Inat Sindam Apunba instructor, Ningthoujam Ibohal Meitei; Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Cultural Association instructor, Thiyam Kora Singh; and Preservation of Manipuri Martial Arts & Cultural Research Centre instructor, Deepak Khanachaobam.
Speaking on the occasion, Laishram Lashamon said Thang-Ta, an indigenous martial art form, is deeply rooted in the Meitei culture and was historically used to protect the Kingdom and its people from foreign invaders.
"Thang Ta is deeply ingrained in Manipuri culture, representing the State's history, traditions, and identity.
It is a source of pride and a reflection of the State's rich heritage", he added.
Laishram Lashamon also called for collective effort to safeguard and promote the indigenous culture and traditions of the State so that its legacy will be carried forth to coming generations for a strong and developed society.
Altogether, 70 trainees including 40 girls and 30 girls participated in the 15-days workshop.
