Imphal, August 01 2024: Manipur Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba sought a detailed account of the developmental works or projects undertaken for the North East region and the funds approved for such projects in the last three years at today's Parliament session.

Raising a supplementary question, the RS MP sought the attention of the House and asked the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) to furnish detailed information regarding the same.

Responding to the RS MP's query, DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia said that in the last 10 years, Rs 5.22 lakh crores have been sanctioned for the development of the North East region.

Such a huge sum has never been allocated for the North East in the last 75 years since India's independence.

The Budget estimate for North East also went up from Rs 27,500 crores in 2014-15 to Rs 91,802 crores last year, said Jyotiraditya M Scindia.
