122nd birth anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot observed, floral tributes and respect paid to great leader

Jiri/Tbl/Bpr, September 30 2018: The 122nd birth anniversary of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot was observed today at the Irabot Memorial Complex, Babupara and Jiribam Higher Secondary School organized by the Jana Neta Irabot Memorial Trust (JIMET), Jiribam.

The observance began early in the morning with floral tributes ceremony at the Irabot Memorial Complex, Babupara while people from all walks of life paid respect to the great leader.

Speaking as the chief guest of the observance held at Jiribam Higher Secondary School, Thounaojam Shyamkumar, Minister of Forest & Environment, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, MAHUD and Town Planning said that Jana Neta Hijam Irabot worked for the development and welfare of the Manipuri community and the society.

He truly showed to the nation the identity of our community, he added.

Appealing to the people to work for the welfare and development of the State and contribute in the nation building, Th Shyamkumar said that acknowledging and remembering the exemplary work of the Jana Neta Hijam Irabot, the day is observed to honour the great personality.

He also urged the people to contribute in bringing a positive change in the society which will benefit the future generations.

Over 20 school contingents took part in the march past parade and two contingents presented cultural dance which were the highlights of the function.

Dr S Arun Kumar Singh, Asst Professor Jiribam College and S Komlakanta Singh, Social Worker, Cachar (Assam) spoke in length about the life and contributions of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot.

The programme was also graced by T Bimol Chand, AC to DC, Jiribam District, S Shanti Devi, Chairperson Jiribam Municipal Council, Kh Janaki Devi, Adhayaksha Zilla Parishad Jiribam District, H Basulal Singh, Addl Superintendent of Police, Jiribam District, Dr Chandam Kamal Singh, Life time president JIMET Jiribam, and students of Jiribam among others.

SILCHAR: The Hijam Irabot Smriti Raksha Committee, Silchar observed the 122nd Birth Anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Singh at Gandhi Bhavan in Silchar, Cachar.

In morning session of the daylong event, many intellectual brigades, CSO leaders, leaders of women organizations and student organizations paid floral tributes to the statue of Hijam Irabot at Irabot Sarani Silchar near Itkhola.

In an open session of the function, President Irabot Smriti Raksha Prof Okram Churamani chaired the function as functional president while Prof Soyam Lokendrajit, formerly Dean of the School of Humanities, Manipur University, Canchipur and Comrade Dipak Bhattacharya, former CPI MLA graced the function as special invitees.

Speaking at the occasion, Advocate cum Secretary of the Irabot Smriti Raksha Committee Silchar, Dulal Mitra opined that Hijam Irabot was not only the leader of Manipuri but also a versatile social reformist.

He also claimed that Hijam Irabot was a favourite leader amongst the non-Manipuri communities of Barak Valley.

"Irabot contributed a lot for the deprived sections of the society while he was in Silchar" he added.

During the function, Dipak Bhattacharya former president of Irabot Smriti Raksha Committee, Silchar was conferred "Hijam Irabot Memorial Award" by the Committee.

Mass rally, cultural programme and discussion on Hijam Irabot also marked the day.

Besides, the birth anniversary of the great leader was also observed at Hojai, Assam organized by Manipuri Kala Krishti Kendra, Papal Pukhri Hojai.

Minister Karam Shyam, MLA Th Satyabrata, MLA H Dingo, Co-convenor JCILPS YK Dhiren and Secretary General UPF Niranjan Usham attended the observance as dignitaries while floral tributes and respect were paid to the statue of the leader.

In Tripura, Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur in association with Manipuri Council Tripura organized the observance of 122nd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Dhaleswar and Lansing Mora in Tripura while Convenor of LINGTO Tripura L Dhana and Convenor of PPCM N Bimol attended the observance and paid respect to the leader.

KAKCHING: Jana Neta Irabot Ningshing Lup in association with Sahitya Seva Samiti, Manipur, Kakching also observed 122nd birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Irabot Park, Kakching Keithel.

Pukhrambam Shampha President Library and Information Centre Kakching, Yengkhom Kengba President Sahitya Seva Samiti Manipur Kakching, Pukhrambam Chandrashekhor President Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association, Dr Thokchom Ojit President Representatives of Lois Kakching and Surjit Kshetrimayum President Jana Neta Irabot Ningshing Lup Kakching attended the observance function as presidium members.

During the function, floral tributes and respect were paid to the statue of the leader at Irabot Park and to the various late leaders of Kakching while modest gifts were presented to two senior most citizens of Kakching and Ksh Chaoba founder of Grace Cottage Academy and Kakching Ayangbung Pareng Development Committee were honoured with simple gifts for their contribution to keep clean and green Kakching.

THOUBAL: As observed across the State, Wangjing Tentha Kendra Development Committee observed 122nd birth anniversary of leader Hijam Irabot today at Laikol Community hall, Wangjing Wangkhei.

MLA Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency Paonam Brojen, President Wangjing Tentha Kendra Development Committee L Brajesgwor Singh, retd Sr Lecturer H Bihari, retd ARCS Kh Maniton Singh, retd Selection Grade Lecturer T Babulal, retd Associate Prof YK College attended the function as presidium members.

In Heirok, in connection to 122nd birth anniversary of torchbearer Hijam Irabot, SCEADO Heirok Bazar organized 11th All Heirok Inter-School Literary Meet 2018 yesterday.

MLA Khundrakpam AC and ex-speaker Lokeshor Singh, MLA Khangabok AC Okram Surjakumar Singh, MLA Heirok AC and former Minister M Okendro Singh, former ex-Chairperson Jayentimala Devi, Pradhan Heirok Part-1 L Khamba Singh and Pradhan Part-2 nominee Th Premjit Singh attended the function as presidium members.

Later, a march past competition was also held and prizes were distributed to the winners.

In Yairipok, Regional Institute of Handicapped Person (RIHP) organized a patriotic song competition for differently abled persons at RIPH Conference Hall, Yairipok Bamol Leikai in connection to the observance of 122nd birth anniversarty of Jana Neta Hijam Irabot.

State Commissioner of Person with Disabilities Manipur RK Kumarjit MD, Deputy Director Disability, Social Welfare Department Manipur Thounaojam Dilipkumar Singh and District Social Welfare Officer Thoubal Arambam Kameshwar Singh attended the function as presidium members.

BISHNUPUR: The Irabot Day celebration was observed in different parts of Bishnupur district today.

A cleanliness drive was also conducted at Lakol Nung, Ibendhou Petanga also known as 'Laikoi Pung' led by MLA Moirang AC P Sharatchandra organized by Modi Bhavan Moirang.

MLA Moirang AC P Sharatchandra Singh, Councillor Ward No 4 Moirang Municipal Council N Ibomcha Singh and workers of BJP Moirang Mandal took part in the cleanliness drive.

The observance was also held at Leimapokpam High School in Nambol AC organized by Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Day Celebration Committee while an Essay Competition was also conducted in connection to the event.

MLA Nambol AC N Loken Singh, Head Mistress Leimapokpam High School Longajam Manglembi Devi, Pradhan Leimapokpam Gram Panchayat Thiyam (o) Pasot Devi attended the function as dignitaries.

United Library and Sports Organization Ngaikhong Siphai in Oinam AC also organized the observance of 122nd Irabot Day at Ngaikhong Siphai Mamang ULASO Community Hall.

Asst Teacher Budha Singh, Member Ward No 9 Ngaikhong GP Sarangthem Basanta Singh, DYC Bishnupur Salam Dhana Singh, Member Ward No 7 Ngaikhong GP Kh Sumila Devi, Social Worker S Joykumar Singh attended the function as presidium members.

Irabot Celebration Committee Oinam also observed 122nd Lamyanba Irabot Day at Oinam Mamang Leikai Community Hall while MLA Bishnupur AC & former Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Chairperson Oinam Municipal Council N Sanahanbi Devi, former Minister I Hemochandra Singh, former Minister N Mangi Singh, ex-MLA & former VC MU, former Director RIMS Dr Ng Bijoy Singh, ex-MLA Moirang AC M Prithviraj Singh, ex-MLA Konthoujam AC K Sarat Singh and ex-MLA Oinam AC Dr I Ibohalbi Singh attended the observance function as presidium members.

Meanwhile, Hijam Irabot Celebration Committee Leimaram also celebrated 122nd Irabot Day at Leimaram Shanti Bazar.

Retd IPS and Vice President BJP Manipur Pradesh Th Basantakumar Singh, IRS Govt of India M Joychandra Singh, Keinou Zila parishad member N Samananda Singh, ADC/ADM, Bishnupur District N Gojendro, Asst Director Weaving M Ibohal Singh, Pradhan Irengbam GP I Gopen Singh, Up-Pradhan Irengbam GP M Sanatomba Singh and SDC Oinam Sh Budhi Singh attended the event as presidium members.

The 122nd Irabot Day was also observed at Kha Jiri Mamang Heitroimakhong Community Hall, Imphal West District in Konthoujam AC organized by Khajiri Rising Club & Library Nambol.

During the function, award and prizes were distributed to meritorious students of Khajiri Mamang Leikai who have excelled in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM.

The function was attended by Councillor Ward No 2 Nambol Municipal Council Okram Dhiren Singh, President KRC & Library Nambol S Premkumar Singh, ex-Councillor Ward No 2 NMC O Ibotombi Singh, Ward member S Okenjit Singh and Secy KMDIC Khajiri S Chandrakumar Singh ad presidium members.
