State level seminar on understanding conflict and violence in Manipur held

A one-day State level seminar on "Understanding Unfolding Conflict and Violence In Manipur" at the miniconference hall of YK College, Wangjing today.
The seminar was jointly organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college and the Seminar Committee.
The inaugural function of the seminar was graced by former Principal DM College of Science, Dr Elangbam Jadu Singh as the chief guest; YK College Principal Dr Soibam Giri Singh as the president and former Associate Professor of the Department of Economics of the college, Dr Waikhom Kumar Singh as the guest of honour.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Elangbam Jadu Singh opined that the root cause of various conflicts in the State is due to the lack of adequate knowledge about the topography, religion and history of Manipur.
In view of the above, he stressed on the need of making concerted efforts to promote the idea of unity and be well equipped with the historical knowledge for a peaceful and developed State.
In the technical session, eminent speakers spoke at length on different topics in line with the theme of the seminar.
During the session, Social activist Dr Dhanabir Laishram spoke on the topic "Peaceful Coexistence in Manipur"; IRE Groups of Institution Principal Dr Rajivkumar spoke on "Unveiling the layers of Conflict and Violence in Manipur: A journey through History, Ethnicity and Politics"; Dr N Somorendro Singh, Department of Political Science of MB College spoke on "Separatist Identity Politics, Illegal Activities and Violence in Manipur" and Head of the Department of English, YK College Associate Professor P Somorendro Singh spoke on "Concluding remarks, The way forward" .
