Workshop on 'Academic Writing' kicks off

Imphal, July 20 2026: A two-day National Workshop on "Academic Writing and Publications in Scopus and Peer-Reviewed Journals (in Social Sciences and Humanities)" kicked off today at the Multipurpose Hall of Maharaja Bodhchandra College, Palace Compound.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan, Manipur Prant and Maharaja Bodhchandra College, Imphal.

Prof GP Prasain, former Vice Chancellor of Tripura University, Agartala and Professor of Commerce, Manipur University, attended as chief guest.

Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, attended as guest of honour.

Dr Bhabananda Singh Takhelambam, Principal, Maharaja Bodhchandra College, presided over the function.

In the technical session, Dr Tapu Biswas, Professor of English, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal, delivered a lecture on "Academic Writing and Publications".

Prof Irom Gambhir Singh, Member, UGC-NE and NEP-2020 Implementation Committee, spoke on "Collaboration for Academic Publication".

An interactive session was also held after the technical session.

Workshop convenor Dr N Somorendro said research and publication are crucial for UGC requirements, NAAC assessment, and national development.

He noted that publications from Manipur are still very few and the workshop aims to equip scholars to publish in reputed journals.

About 140 participants including PhD research scholars and young faculty members are attending the workshop along with eminent resource persons from outside the State.
