Decrying the conduct of some personnel of 6th MR who assaulted a disabled person at Senapati Bazar on the night of May 14, All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has decided to launch intense agitation if the authorities concerned fail to take up action against the involved MR personnel.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of the Union located at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai this afternoon, Union president Momo Tantanga demanded that the Government to suspend the involved MR personnel from service and provide financial assistance to the victim in his medical treatment.
Recalling the incident, Momo said that on that fateful night, 22 year old L Daikho s/o late Loli of Senapati village was taking out a stroll along with two of his friends when some personnel of 6th MR intercepted them at a spot in between the traffic point of Senapati Bazar and the Police Station.
Alleging that Daikho was the person who had threaten them, the MR personnel assaulted him.
Daikho had been taken to Senapati District for treatment on the same night and in the following day, he was referred to RIMS Hospital from where he was discharged and brought home, Momo said, adding that Daikho is physically disabled student studying in class X .
