Fitting tribute paid to fallen NSCN cadres

Ukhrul, July 17 2020: A fitting tribute was paid today at Ukhrul to six NSCN IM cadres who were killed in Arunachal Pradesh to honour their supreme sacrifices for the cause of Naga national movement for self-determination.

All the six IM cadres were killed in military action on July 11 in Arunachal Pradesh.

The mortal remains of IM cadres arrived today and subsequently, a condolence programme was held at TNL ground, Wino Bazar at around 9 am before the bodies were officially handed over to their respective families for the last rites.

The caskets of the two Tangkhul NSCN IM cadres were wrapped and decorated with rainbow colour Naga national flag as a mark of respect and thankfulness for their supreme sacrifices.

Every individual who attends the condolence service waved Naga national flags to bid farewell to the fallen IM cadres.

Meanwhile, the United Naga Council (UNC) president Kho John expressed solidarity with bereaved families and further stated that their sacrifices will never go in vain and went on to mention that their names will be recorded in the history of Naga struggle for independence.

UNC vehemently condemned the brutality and crime committed by Assam Rifles, he said.

Saying that since the signing of the ceasefire in 1997 and framework agreement in 2015, Naga observed the ceasefire ground rules for peaceful Naga political solution.

UNC president also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to solve the Naga issue first to avert bloodshed in the region.

Their sacrifices will definitely embolden many youths to join the Naga national movement, Kho John added.

President of Naga Mother Union, Manipur Asha said claimed that Indian security forces broke ceasefire ground rules on many occasions.

Naga Women would stand for justice and will safeguard the rights of every Naga, she added.

The brother and sister of Late Somipam who are in quarantine also attended the condolence programme by wearing PPE suits for a few minutes.

TNL president Hopingson A Shimray expresses gratitude on behalf of the Tangkhul community who have taken all trouble and pain in arranging to retrieve back the deceased persons to their respective native villages for the last rites.

TNL also presented Tangkhul male shawls (Haora) for the slain cadres.

Wung Tangkhul region, Kiusumong Battalion Naga Army, Khurmi Naga People's Organization, Naga People Organization, Joint Tribes Council, Tangkhul Naga Long, Naga Women Union, All Naga Student Association Manipur, United Naga Council also mourned the untimely demise of the IM cadres.

After the condolence service, the mortal remains of two NSCN IM cadres were handed over to their respective families.

The condolence programme was organized by TNL & Tangkhul CSOs under the aegis of United Naga Council.
