Imphal, May 07 2013:
Contending that cash incentives entitled to Manipuri candidates selected for the National Defence Academy (NDA) are being held up without any explanation, parents of the selected candidates demanded that State authorities look into the matter for early redressal.
Speaking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club today, NDA Cadets Parents' Welfare Association secretary M Nabachandra claimed that in between 120 and 128 batches of the Academy, a total of 44 candidates were enlisted by the State Academy of Training for Cash incentive Award.
Inspite of each candidate entitled to one-time cash incentive award of Rs 1 lakh and Training academy on May 11, 2012 issuing a notification for submitting relevant documents by the candidates there is no sign of entertaining the said candidates, said the secretary.
Stating that based on the notification, candidates concerned underwent screening test followed by the State Academy forwarding the documents to the Ministry of defence for authentication, Chandramani said the Ministry is yet to reply on the Academy's missive till date.
Claiming that the rules and regulations regarding the NDA do not mention necessity of the Ministry's intervention on the matter, he demanded that the Government of Manipur take appropriate measures to ensure eligible candidates enjoy their rights.
