Addl Chief Secretary inspects key development projects in Kakching, Thoubal

Kakching, September 27 2025:
Manipur Additional Chief Secretary (Trade, Commerce & Industries) and PCCF, HoFF, Anurag Bajpai inspected several ongoing and proposed projects in Kakching and Thoubal districts, including the Mega Food Park at Yaithibi Loukol, the Industrial Estate at Kuraopokpi, theproposedbird sanctuary at Kharungpat and the eco-tourism project at Pumlenpat.
During the inspection tour, he was accompanied by Chief Conservator of Forest TP-I Longjam Joykumar, Director of Handloom & Textiles H Jiten, DFO Thoubal Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee (MFS), SP Kakching Priyadarshini Laishram (MPS) and Addl Deputy Magistrate P Shantikumar among others.
Speaking during the visit, Bajpai stated that once developed, the proposed bird sanctuary would not only preserve the environment and wildlife habitat but also transform the site into a major tourist destination as the area attracts large flocks of migratory birds and offers picturesque views.
Saying that this could be enhanced by the development of facilities such as a cable car from Keirak-Wabagai Cheirao Ching, stairways, and a watchtower, he added that plans are underway to provide free training programs for tourist guides.
Regarding the Pumlenpat Eco-Tourism project, Bajpai said that plans include setting up an adventure sports and water recreation center with facilities for para-riding, water boating, and other activities.
The Additional Chief Secretary also reviewed progress at the Mega Food Park in Yaithibi Loukol, Thoubal, and the Industrial Estate at Kuraopokpi, Kakching.
The Industrial Estate is expected to house food processing units, furniture making, and iron & steel industries, thereby boosting local employment.
He further emphasized the need to address arsenic contamination in drinking water, instructing the installation of treatment plants, ensuring reHable electricity supply and strengthening security measures in the area.
Later, Bajpai inspected the ACTC Thoubal office and also held a review meeting with DC Thoubal, SP Thoubal, DFO Thoubal, General Manager (DIC) Thoubal, Project Manager (HT), and frontline staff.
The meeting focused on assessing the progress of ongoing projects, resolving challenges, and chalking out future strategies to accelerate development in both districts.
