Imphal, February 22 2013:
Chairmen of Autonomous District Councils and representatives of the Coordination Committee of ADCs today left Imphal for New Delhi to highlight their greivances to the Prime Minister and the UPA Chairperson particularly the State Government's alleged failure to give them adequate power.
It is reported that the ADCs Chairmen would also call on the Union Tribal Affairs Minister as well as other relevant Central leaders, apart from Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to highlight the State's Government failure to devolve adequate power to the ADCs.
The incumbent ADC Members contested the ADC poll amidst strong objection and threats from some elements and even after they were elected, they are still unable to go back to their native villages for the threats still persist.
On the other hand, the State Government has not yet devolved adequate power to make the ADCs full functional, said one ADC Chairman adding that all these grievances would be apprised to the central leaders.
