Imphal, April 17:
Reminding of its memorandum submitted on January 24 this year on non-completion of the Mao Water Supply Scheme at Mao taken up under the Non-Lapsable Pool of Central Resources (NLCPR), the Development Committee, Northern Mao has served an ultimatum to the Minister of Public Health Engineering Department demanding completion of the water supply scheme within 15 days failing which agitation of various sorts will be launched.
According to the ultimatum, a copy of which has been made available to the press, the water supply remains incomplete even after the lapse of three years since the scheme was taken up.
The Department has not done anything positive to issue the required number of GI pipes or make payment of bills to the contractors concerned.
Because of such failure on the part of the Department, the construction work of the scheme has been stalled even as 70/80 percent of the work has been already completed, it lamented.
It also lamented that peaceful efforts aimed at arousing the PHE Department to take up necessary actions so that the water supply scheme is completed without further delay have all gone in vain.
Nevertheless, the Development Committee, Northern Mao expressed hope that the PHE Minister would give due attention to the ultimatum and take up necessary actions promptly.
