Imphal, September 09 2013: A combined team of Thoubal police commandos and 15 AR arrested a KYKL cadre identified as Elangbam Tomba alias Manikanta Meitei (27) s/o (L) E Lukhoi of Heirok Part-II Bazar Shanti Khongnang Leirak while conducting a search operation at Heirok Part-II bazar yesterday around 12.45pm.According to a Thoubal police statement, one 7.65 pistol with two live rounds, two Chinese made hand grenades and a mobile phone with SIM were recovered from him.

The same day around 9.55pm, a combined team of Thoubal commandos and 40 AR arrested a KCP (MC) cadre identified as Md Jakariya (27) s/o Md Idrsh Ali of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, the statement said.

One 9mm carbine with four rounds, one Chinese made hand grenade, one demand letter of KCP (MC), a mobile handset and a wallet containing Rs 1030 were recovered from his possession, it added.

He confessed his involvement in the killing of one Md Babu of Kwakta at Mutum Phibou besides other activities of extortions and hijacking of vehicles, the statement added.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East district police commandos arrested an active member of KCP (MC) along with twelve extortion notes of the outfit while conducting a mobile frisking and checking at Koirengei Bazar on Sept 7 around 10am.A statement issued by the Imphal East police identified the arrested cadre as Shantosh Rizal (24) s/i (L) Ram Prasad Rizal of Charhajar village under Sapermeina PS in Senapati district.

He confessed to have joined the outfit through one Robin of Kanglatongbi who is presently staying in Nepal, it said while adding that Shantosh had extorted a huge amount of money from the general public, private firms, Govt offices etc and transported arms and ammunition from place to place many times earlier on the advice of Robin.

In an unrelated incident, Imphal West police commandos arrested one sympathiser of KCP Noyon group from Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai today around 7.30am Imphal West police statement identified the arrested individual as Laipubam Sheityadeva Sharma alias Tony (29) s/o L Ratankumar Sharma of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai.
