Workshop on "Preparation of Manipuri Course Materials in Meetei Mayek" commences

Imphal, June 09 2025: The 6-day workshop on "Preparation of Manipuri Course Materials in Meetei Mayek" commenced today at Hotel Parshuram Conference Hall, Guwahati.

Organised by the North Eastern Regional Language Centre, Guwahati, the inaugural of the workshop programme was attended by Department of English, Manipuri University of Culture (MUC), Assistant Professor Dr Irom Robindro as chief guest and Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIL), Mysuru, Lecturer cum Junior Research Officer & Officer in-charge North Eastern Regional Language Centre, Guwahati, Dr Aleendra Brahma as functional president.

Speaking at the event, Dr Irom Robindro emphasized the need of modernising the teaching techniques of Manipuri language.

Dr Aleendra Brahma said that among the Tibeto Burman languages, Manipur language has very high status.

He said that the workshop programme was organised to develop the Basic Course Material by using Meitei Mayek language prescribed by the CIIL Diploma Course text book to non-native learners.

The workshop program that will take place till June 14 will be attended by Dr Laishram Lenin Singh, subeditor of Sangai Express (Manipuri Edition), Dr Wahengbam Saritarani Devi, Dr Sujeta Beishamayum, Dr Nongmaithem Pritamkumar Singh, Dr Loitongbam Sarankumari Devi, Dr Sapam Sangita Chanu, Dr Thaodem Romen Meitei and Thounaojam Linthoingambi Devi as resource persons.
