The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI/ MSC) on Saturday organised a condolence meeting to mourn the demise of Atul Kumar Anjaan, senior leader and general secretary of CPI.
Atul Kumar Anjaan passed away on Friday morning after a long spell of illness.
He was 70 .
A gifted orator, Atul Kumar Anjaan was the party's voice in the Hindi heartland.
He began his political career as a student leader in Lucknow and later became a member of the National Executive Committee of CPI.
He also served as the general secretary of All India Kisan Sabha for five terms.
The condolence meeting held at Irawat Bhawan, Imphal was attended by former Minister & Central Control Commission, CPI, member.
Dr M Nara; CPI/MSC state secretary, L Thoiren; Manipur Loumi Lup president, N Singhajit; CPI/MSC former state secretary, L Sotinkumar; CPI/MSC assistant secretary, M Joykumar and Manipur Loumi Lup working president S Nilakurnol as presidium members.During the event, the gathering recalled the outstanding role played by Atul Kumar Anjaan in building the students' movement, Kisan movement and the party across the country.
Dr M Nara also led the gathering in offering tribute to the late leader.
