Imphal, August 02 2013 :
Some unidentified persons locked the gate of Ram Krishna Higher Secondary School, Ghari last night in connection with a monetary demand of Rs 30 lakhs.
The school which has its own hostel was found locked this morning.
Taking strong exception to this act, students, guardians, teachers of the school and local people staged a protest demonstration at Ghari Makha Leikai community hall today.
One teacher disclosed that KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) served a monetary demand of Rs 30 lakhs to the school Principal sometime back.
Some unidentified persons came to the school and asked for Principal Oinam Jawan's mobile phone number a few days back.
Starting from that day, the unidentified persons started asking about their demand letter every now and then.
But the school authority did not receive any demand letter, said the teacher.
Later, one individual who identified himself as an activist of KCP-MC admitted that no demand letter was delivered to the school.
Yet, he asked the school authority to arrange Rs 30 lakhs.
Unable to bear continuous harassment through mobile phone, Principal Jawan removed SIM card from his mobile phone about 10 days.
In the meantime, the school gate was found locked this morning.
Nonetheless, the lock was broke open by MSF volunteers, local Meira Paibis and guardians this afternoon.
The protest demonstration staged today used slogans such as "We want free education", "Ransom/demand is terrorism", "Save students' life" etc.
