LS election: Decks cleared for counting for 6 ACs in Thoubal

Thoubal, May 28 2024:
The district administration in Thoubal is almost ready to count the votes for Lok Sabha election in respect of six Assembly segments in Thoubal which went to poll on April 19 .
Notably, the Lok Sabha election for two Parliamentary seats in Manipur (Inner and Outer) was held in two phases on April 19 and April 26 .
The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on June 4 .
Two counting centres have been set up for six ACs in Thoubal.
Of the six ACs, Lilong, Thoubal and Wangkhem fall under the Inner Parliamentary seat while the rest Heirok, Wangjing Tentha and Khangabok fall under Outer.
Speaking to the media in this regard, Thoubal DC cum District Election Officer Ahanthem Subash said that the counting centres will be set up at Thoubal DC complex.
Saying that counting of votes for Thoubal, Heirok and Wangjing Tentha will be done at counting hall no 1 and for Wangkhem and Khangabok at counting hall no 2, he added that security measures have been taken up to count the votes without disturbances.
For Lilong and special polling stations in Outer PC, the counting will be held at the office of BDO, Thoubal, he added.
Saying that a three tier security arrangement of State and Central forces will be implemented on the day of the vote counting, the Thoubal DC continued that only counting agents authorised by the respective candidates and those with special permits will be allowed to enter the counting halls.
