A three-day training programme on National Mission on Medicinal Plants for the officials of various Departments was opened at supervisor's training hall, Mantripukhri today.
Horticulture and Soil Conservation Commissioner BB Sharma, Director of the same Department, K Ngachan and Joint Director Ch Chaoba graced the inaugural function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The main objective of organising the programme is to impart thorough understanding of the Centrally funded newly launched mission, and also and to ensure success of the mission.
Speaking on the occasion, BB Sharma said that Manipur is home to innumerable number of medicinal plants which are very effective for health care.
Saying that there are many other medicinal plants which are yet to be identified, BB Sharma said that people of the State can earn a lot from the large scale plantation of these plants.
Officials from Forest Department, Central Agricultural University, ICAR, IBSD and other Departments are taking part in the training programme.
