Tamenglong, October 19 2024:
The Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) has strongly condemned "any documentation" facilitating the proposed establishment of Zeilad Wildlife Sanctuary and Zeilad Region (D2 and D3) oil exploration.
A press release issued by the RNCM has termed it disheartening that "some entrepreneur, social activist and person in position in connivance with the Government agencies, in their subconsciousness, promote the issue against public interest" .
RNCM asserted that the attempt to constitutionally justify the exploitation of the wealth that legitimately belongs to the Rongmei Naga tribe, through constitutional amendment, Acts and policies, goes against the Right to Properties, guaranteed through Article 371 (c), to the indigenous tribal hill dwellers, particularly in the State of Manipur.
RNCM has urged every Rongmei individual to stand up against such alleged injustice and make an all-out effort to undermine the attempt of outsiders to systematically infringe on their right and territorial integrity.
The RNCM, and all its frontal organizations, have therefore cautioned any in-dividual/groups to refrain from any activities that may be deemed an act of treason against the tribe and Nation.
It urged everyone to consider the sentiment of the people and work unitedly towards securing their future for the coming generation that would proudly inherit their legacies.
