MSF members visit schools at Boroik Sabhughat and Babukhal in Jiribam

Imphal, May 15 2019: As part of its ongoing campaign "Ekhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi", Manipuri Student Federation (MSF), Head Office, Imphal together with MSF, Jiribam District Committee inspected several schools located in the remote area of Jiribam at Boroikhal, Sabhughat and Babukhal yesterday and were stunned to find lack of proper roads that lead to the schools and absence of regular footpath for the villagers, said Ngariyanbam Milan, president MSF Head Office, Imphal.

Such pitiable conditions led to repeated absence of teachers which has hampered the regular conduct of the classes in these schools which has compelled many students of the area to opt for other better places to continue their studies, he added.

The inspection team was led by Ngariyanbam Milan president MSF HO Imphal and was accompanied by Maibam Julesh Singh, external affairs secy, MSF HO; Yendrembam Bungcha, finance secy, HO; MD Zeeshan, org secy; Atom Rajiv, president MSF Jiribam District Committee and Shayam Sanjoy Singh, asst finance, MSF, Jiribam District Committee.

Speaking to the media persons, a resident settled near Boroikhal School, Konthoujam Ibungomacha said that he was staying there for the last three years and he saw very low attendance of teachers and students in the school.

His neighbour, Ng Kantamani (56) also said that they have kept all their children and family members at a suitable place where they can get proper education as no worthy schools are available in the village while adding that they are staying here to earn their livelihood and to support their families.

He continued that the villagers have two options to reach Jiribam - one the small lane in the village through Assam and the waterway through Leingangpokpi that takes 2 hour on motor boat ride.

Regarding the inspection, Ng Milan, president, MSF, HO, Imphal said that the team of MSF, Imphal and Jiribam found the condition of Boroikhal Primary School in deplorable state during their visit in Boroikhal area under the vision of the campaign "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi", which is in stark contrast to the many claims of State Govt that their development schemes pervade to each nook and corner of the State under their flagship programme such as 'Go to Village' while adding that their scheme is a total failure in this side of the State particularly for the students who were deprived of their basic education.

He also shared unhappiness over the road connectivity to Boroikhal from Jiribam where villagers are forced to use motor boat to reach Jiribam spending hours.

He urged the State Govt to devise a strategic approach to make schemes like 'Go to Village' and 'Go to School' more effective at ground level so that children settled in remote area can receive their basic education in the most effective way.

Atom Rajiv, president, MSF Jiribam District Committee expressed that under the vision of the campaign "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi" of MSF, they have inspected various schools in Boroikhal, Sabhughat and Babukhal which is located at the remote area of Jiribam district yesterday and found lack of proper roadway, absenteeism and irregulariries of teachers in the schools which are the main cconcerns of the villagers.
