Protest staged against imposition of monetary demands

Bishnupur, July 12 2025:
Protesting against the imposition of unbearable monetary demands, the teaching, non-teaching staff and students of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Utlou staged a sit-in protest at the gate of the institute today.
Speaking in this connection, RK Ingotomba Singh, Director, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences, said that due to the restive condition in the State coupled with frequent bandhs and blockades, the institution remains open only for a few months throughout the year.
Under such circumstances, he addressed different groups who have threatened to close down the institution unless their monetary demands are paid and urged them to refrain from imposing such demands and restrictions.
He said that the PDDUIAS opened at Utlou and Kameng Khunjao is one of the few institutes in Manipur which offers PG courses in various disciplines with the approval of the UGC and where many students are enrolled.
In view of the students studying here as well as the teachers, he urged the groups to withdraw their monetary demand.
He also made a widespread appeal urging everyone in the State to refrain from making unmanageable monetary demands.
The protesters wielded placards with messages such as "Stop imposing unbearable monetary demands", "Allow us to learn peacefully" etc among others.
