Jiribam police have been strolling at different places in the district to avoid any unwanted incidents, reports our correspondent.

KAKCHING: In Kakching district, except for a few private vehicles, no passenger vehicles were seen playing along the roads of Kakching district today.

Schools and Government offices wore a deserted look and popular markets in the district namely Kakching Lamkhai, Pallel, Wabagai Lamkhai, Kakching Khunou, Waikhong, Sugnu among others remained shut, reports our correspondent.

Meanwhile, police patrolled around different places of the district.

A joint sit-in protest was staged by AMSU Kakching district committee, Wabagai Awang Leikai Youth Development Association and Wabagai Awang Leikai Meira Paibis at Wabagai Awang Leikai community hall and the protesters later gathered to raise slogans along Imphal-Sugnu road.

AMSU Kakching district committee has warned to launch more stringent agitation if the common demands of the people are not met at the earliest.

In a separate protest, faculty and students of Brighter Career Academy staged a sit in protest in front of their school and women vendors of Kakching Khunou Keithel, showing support to the bandh, halted their service and took out a torch rally later in the day.

During the bandh, vehicles stayed off the road, shops were closed and markets wore a deserted look.

BISHNUPUR: The Statewide bandh called by JAC in the mysterious death of Babysana also crippled normal life in Bishnupur District.

Important markets in Bishnupur district including Kumbi Keithel, Moirang Keithel, Ningthoukhong Keithel, Kwkata Keithel, Bishnupur Keithel, Oinam Keithel and Nambol Keithel wore a deserted look during the bandh while shops, schools, bank, post office were closed and many Govt offices witnessed minimum attendance.
