Ex-MLA of Tamei AC and former vice-chairman of the Hill Areas Committee, Z Kikhonbou Newmai, has raised serious concerns over the nondistribution of NFSA (National Food Security Act)ricemeantfor beneficiaries in Tousem and Tamei blocks of Manipur.
Z Kikhonbou Newmai in a release issued today highlighted the ongoing hardships faced by residents, particularly during the current rainy season.
According to the release, NFSA rice for the months of April and May for Tousem block and for April, May and August for Tamei block has not yet been delivered.
He stated that as per the complaint lodged by the public, the total allocation of NFSA rice for Tousem block stands at 889 quintals per month, totalling 1778 quintals (3556 bags) for two months.
Similarly, the Tamei block was to receive 884 quintals per month, amounting to 2652 quintals (5304 bags) for three months.
In total 4430 quintals or 8860 bags are yet to be received by the NFSA rice beneficiaries for both Tousem and Tamei block.

Stating that food scarcity is at its peak, especially with the harvest season yet to arrive, Newmai urged die concerned authorities to take immediate action and ensure the distribution of the pending rice allocations in the interest of the public.
