MLAs of ruling Congress in the state were doing nothing for the welfare of the people instead they remained doing contract works for their own welfare, former Union minister, Th Chaoba speaking at function held at Wangkhem as part of felicitating Dr Nimaichand Luwang as president of Manipur People Party said today.
Chaoba said when anti-defection law was not enacted Congress toppled MPP government installed in the state but today armed with the law, Congress led SPF government is ruling in the state.
However, MLAs of ruling congress never brought up any public issued in the floor of the house of Assembly for discussion.
Instead of it, they remained engaged in taking contract works and pretending doing welfare works of the people, Choaba criticized.
With many MLAs and minister who think of their own welfare outnumber in the ruling front, many indecent incidents occurring in the state.
The process is not a good sign for the state.
In order to prevent such incidents which will be dragged down the society, people need to think of bringing a change.
MPP has decided to fight the election in 20 Assembly constituencies in valley areas in the next Assembly election apart from fielding party candidates in the hill areas too with pre-poll alliance with like minded parties, Chaoba observed saying that electioneering of the party had already
started.
MPP is thinking of fighting the election with a common manifesto of its alliance, he added.
Dr Nimaichand Luwang who believed that he got the post of president of the MPP considering his long experience in the political field and his contribution in the Assembly as member of the house said that he will try his best to achieve the goal of the party to serve the people.
Under the Congress rule, people of the state are at the limit of woes.
In order to improve the living condition of the people, prevalent of peace, there is the need of bringing a change in the state, he observed seeking people's corporation in the party's effort to bring the change.
MPP will held a thorough consultation with the people before the general election of the state Assembly coming up in 2012.The party will try its best for pre-poll alliance with other parties other than Congress.
The occasion was also attended M Binod who contested election in the party ticket in the last Assembly election in Sugnu A/C, party general secretary L Ashokumar, former minister S Natum, former speaker Dr S Dhananjoy and general secretary N Sanajoaba.
