Around 50 people of Manipuri origin employed in the Parliament today held a get-together at the official bungalow of Rajya Sabha Member, Rishang Keishing located at 12 Talkatora Road in New Delhi.
Reports received from the organisers said, MP, Rishang Keishing and Inner Manipur MP Dr T Meinya attended the simple function of get together.
Outer Manipur MP Thangso Baite could not attend the function as he was away in the home state.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Rishang Keishing expressed happiness by saying that there was no one in the Parliament from Manipur in 1952 when he went there as the MP for the first time.
"But today I'm happy to know that there are around 50 people from Manipur employed in the Parliament," he said, and appealed to all the Manipuri employees of the Parliament, who were present at the get-together, to cooperate with each other and work together.
MP Keishing also expressed happiness that he had helped two patients of cancer from Manipur through the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
MP Dr T Meinya, who also spoke at the function, appealed to the gathering to work with dedication for the betterment of Manipur and the nation.
He expressed somewhat of disappointment that the target for completion of Jiribam-Tupul railway line has been extended to 2016 despite his persitent pursuit of the project with the Ministry of Railways.
Families of the Manipuri employees of the Parliament were also present at the get-together, the reports said.
