Imphal, July 28 2024:
The Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand (CCDFEZD) has appealed to all armed organisations to stop imposing unbearable monetary demand on educational institutions and intimidating people working in the education sector.
In a statement signed by its convenor Mayengbam Somorjit who is also a president of DESAM, the Committee expressed hope that the armed organisations will consider their appeals and make education free from all forms of disturbance.
The Committee also appealed to the Chief Minister, Council of Ministers and MLAs to not politicise education and formulate a policy to make sure every school conducts class at least 220 days in a year.
It further said that the Government should not delay in implementing education related programmes as it will disturb the academic atmosphere.
Education institutions should also be free from corruption, nepotism and favouritism, apart from making them a disturbance free zone, the Committee added.
Saying that they themselves who raise the demands should not take part in any corrupt activities, the Committee said that every individual should know and perform their fundamental duties in the same way they demand fulfilment of their rights.
DESAM has been observing July 5 as "Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand Day," it said and added that this year observance was held from July 5 to July 27 by holding different forms of campaign.
