MHGEWA warns of mass agitation

The Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association (MHGEWA) has warned of launching mass agitation if the long-pending demands of Home Guard personnel are not materialized by September 30 .
Briefing media persons today at Luwangsangbam, MHGEWA president Y Mangi said that since 2021, the association has been demanding an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) from the current 14 percent to 39 percent, along with ration money benefits.
He continued that in this regard, an ultimatum was also submitted to the Governor on September 1, 2025, highlighting the long pending demands of Home Guard personnel.
"Despite several representations to the authorities, no concrete action has been taken till date", said Y Mangi while adding that the demands are legitimate and long-overdue.
He lamented that Home Guard personnel have been consistently neglected and deprived of their entitled allowances on time.
"MGHEWA will be launching a mass agitation if the legitimate demands of Home Guard personnel are not materialized by September 30", said Y Mangi while urging all to support the agitation launched by the association.
Notably, the demands raised by the MHGEWA includes-finalizing seniority lists of Home Guards, framing guidelines or rules for promotion of Home 'Guards, enhancing DA corresponding to the minimum pay of a police constable from time to time as per Supreme Court's Judgment & Order, appointment of separate & full-time Commandant General for Home Guards, enhancing the age of superannuation to 62-65, and extending benefits of ration money allowances.
