Seized fertilizers found to be unauthorised

Altogether 600 bags of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), commonly known as Diamond which were intercepted by members of the public and later seized by Moirang Police yesterday have turned out to be unauthorised.
Speaking to media persons at the Directorate of Agriculture, Sanjenthong today, Agriculture Director Peter Salam said that a truck associated with Agro-Tech Solutions, Kwakta was carrying 600 bags of DAP was intercepted at Moirang by members of the public and later seized by police.
Upon investigation, it was found that Agro-Tech Solutions is neither an authorized nor a registered dealer permitted to transport or distribute fertilizers in Manipur, Peter said.
The DAP bags were brought by Agro-Tech Solutions, Kwakta Bazar from Cropcoin Technologies Private Limited, Bihar without any authorization.
The Agriculture Director said that the department has been monitoring if any recognised dealer has been transporting fertilizers from outside the State in illegal manner.
He said that 600 bags seized at Moirang yesterday are valued at around Rs six lakh.
Peter Salam said that the Agriculture Department has asked police to take up necessary action against Agro-Tech Solutions under the Fertilizer Control Act for transporting fertilizers in an unlawful manner.
He said that an FIR would be registered against Cropcoin Technologies Pvt Ltd c/o Sarwan Kumar, Ram Chandrapur, Biharsharif, Nalanda, Bihar from which Agro-Tech Solutions brought the fertilizers.
Peter Salam said that the department would be initiating necessary-actions against all concerned parties, including the supplier and recipient, under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and the Fertilizer (Control) Order.
Strict measures will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future, he said.
Regarding fertilizer availability, the Director stated that in preparation for the upcoming Kharif season, the Department had distributed around 1,10,000 bags of fertilizers during the previous year.
Additionally, about 1,80,000 bags were distributed to farmers across the State.
At present, around 1,00,000 bags of fertilizers are available in departmental godowns.
The Department is also planning to procure an additional 70,000 to 80,000 bags over the next three to four months, Peter Salam said.
To facilitate easy access for fanners, around 150 distribution points have been set up across the State, along with door-to-door distribution initiatives.
The department has assured that adequate quantities of fertilizers will be made available to all farmers for the upcoming Kharif season, he added.
