CAU hosts conclave on "AGRIVISION for Agripreneurs of NE India"

The Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, hosted a 1-day conclave on "AGRIVISION for Agripreneurs of NE India" at its headquarter in Lamphelpat today.
As part of the conclave, an Exhibition Stall was also opened in the university showcasing various indigenous goods produced by entrepreneurs and Farmer Producer Companies.
Three books titled "Research Methodology, Stewardship & Conservation in Agriculture", "The small farm reality" and "Reassessment of Micro and Secondary Nutrients and Management strategies in Manipur" were also released.
Speaking to media persons, CAU, Vice Chancellor, Dr Anupam Mishra said that the Conclave will be hugely beneficial to the students, IPOs, start-ups, entrepreneurs and farmers of the State.
Stating that CAU has taken up various initiatives to create a positive economic environment in the North Eastern Region, he urged the farming community to avail the benefits of the platform provided by the university.
He also elaborated on the initiatives taken by CAU to bring about a FPO movement in NE Region and added that about 60 FPOs are operating successfully in the region.
Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal, Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma said that various sessions will be conducted for new start-ups, entrepreneurs, FPOs and students in the Conclave.
"During the conclave, new start-ups, entrepreneurs, FPOs and students will get the opportunity to interact with investors from across the country to discuss different topics including marketing linkage & business plans", he added.
Students from CAU Imphal, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kolkata and other Colleges along with prominent investors of the country such as Atul Jain, secretary, DRI, New Delhi; Mohit Sharma, agri entrepreneur from Guwahati; and Sarthak Dangra.
director, Faith Enterprises, Ansari Road, New Delhi participated in the programme.
The event was also attended by Prof Indira Sarangthem, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal.
The first technical session on "Innovative business ideas in agri & allied sector" was participated by Prof Y Ranjana Devi, Prof T Shantibala Devi and Dr Nilima Karam as rapporteurs while second session was attended by Prof Th Robindro Singh, Prof Dipaknath and Dr T Matouleibi Chanu.
Meanwhile, a special lecture programme was also conducted today at the auditorium of College of Agriculture, Iroishemba.
At the event, Dr Sankar Kumar Acharya, Dean, Post Graduate Studies, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya; Navya Jain Dangra, founder Being+ Becoming; Dr Suvrat Kumar Singh, managing partner, R4 Food Industry Consultants, Mumbai; climate activist Dr Ramesh Jalal and Dr Amit Goswami, Senior Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi shared their expertise & Insight on various topics.
