All India Cooperative Week celebration concludes

The 70th All India Cooperative Week celebration jointly organised by Institute of Cooperative Management Imphal, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Manipur and Manipur State Cooperative Union, Lamphelpat concluded today at the complex oflnstitute of Cooperative Managementin Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The celebration was conducted on the main theme of "Role of cooperatives in making India a $5 Trillion economy and SDGs" and on the sub theme of "Revamping of cooperative education and training".
The valedictory function was attended by Cooperative Societies, Government of Manipur, Registrar, Valentina Arambam; Manipur State Cooperative Union president, L Tompishak Singh; NABARD, Manipur Regional Office, Deputy General Manager, Bendang Aier; Institute of Cooperative Management Imphal, former Director, Dr N Ranjana Devi; Institute of Cooperative Management Imphal, Director, Khoichung Rangamlian Aimol; Manipur State Cooperative Union vice president (valley), Kh Maniton Singh and Manipur State Cooperative Union vice president (hill), Neilangam Gangmei as presidium members.
The function began with the lighting of candles and an opening song by students of the Institute.
Speaking on the occasion, Valentina Arambam the Cooperative Week is celebrated every year from November 14 to 20 with an objective of highlighting the achievements of the Cooperative Sector and chalking out future strategies of growth.
Highlighting that education/ training is one of the 7 Cooperative Principles, she asserted that through cooperative education and training, members are able to learn how to cooperate, participate and effectively contribute towards the development of their cooperative.
She also shared that the Department has been providing all possible assistance to cooperative societies of Manipur and for the current financial year, the Department is making preparations to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) of the piggery sector, poultry sector and dairy sector under RKVY.
"The Department has also given loans to more than 150 Fishery Cooperative Societies", added Valentina.
