Hiyanglam by-poll: Struggle building up for BJP ticket

With by-election to Hiyanglam Assembly constituency barely one month away, demand for BJP ticket is building up forcing the party's state unit president to fly to New Delhi on Tuesday to consult party leadership on who should be given the ticket.
A crucial meeting of BJP Manipur Pradesh election committee held yesterday considered the names of three aspirants�Maibam Dhanabir, Dr Y Radheshyam and L Ashokumar.
State BJP president Th Chaoba accompanied by party general secretary who left Imphal for Delhi is likely to put the matter before the party leadership, a source informed.
Maibam Dhanabir, son of former MLA of Hiyanglam, late M Kunjo, is most likely to get the BJP ticket for the by-poll scheduled for October 15, the source said.
The by-poll is to conduct to fill the seat left vacant by M Kunjo.
Meanwhile, the state Congress is expected to field E Dwijamani as its candidate for the Hiyanglam by-poll.
The name of Mayengbam Amutombi has been announced by Manipur People's Party (MPP) as its candidate for the by-poll.
However, the state unit of Communist Party of India (CPI) is yet to reveal its stand to date.
Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) is likely to announce the name of its candidate on September 22 .
Three aspirants are vying for the MPTCC ticket, said party vice-president MI Khan.
