Independence Day' celebrated across districts

Kpi/Cdl/Ccpur/Spt, August 16 2018: Kangpokpi celebrated the 72nd India Independence Day on August 15 joining the State on the National occasion under the aegis of District Administration Kangpokpi at M Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi DHQs.

Despite the boycott called by the proscribed KNF-N, the second Independence Day of Kangpokpi district was successfully celebrated at District Headquarters Kangpokpi and in all the sub divisions of the district after attaining districthood in 2016 .

The celebration began at around 9.15 am with Joel G Haokip (MCS), Deputy Commissioner, who graced the sparkling occasion as chief guest, has the guard of honour and inspection of parade accompanied by M Hemant Pandey (IPS), SP Kangpokpi and have set the mood by hoisting the tricolor amidst cheers and applauds from the crowd followed by the National Anthem by JNV students.

Sony SG Sang (MPS), SDPO Kangpokpi sincerely received the salutation from the lively march pass contingents including personnel of Kangpokpi police, VDF, school students, ASHA Workers and ICDS under the fluttering tri-colour amidst the impressive musical performance of St Francis De School, Daili Band party.

Addressing the gathering, Joel G Haokip extended his warmest greeting to the people of Kangpokpi on the auspicious occasion and also offered heartfelt gratitude and honour to the freedom fighters and unsung heroes while urging the people of Kangpokpi to recommit themselves to peace, unity and communal harmony as a mark of honour to those who have sacrificed for the nation.

On the occasion, a special issue christened as 'Kangpokpi Today' has also been released which was edited by Laishram Roshan, District Information Officer (DIPR), Kangpokpi and published by Department of Information and Public Relations, Govt of Manipur.

As a part of the celebration, certificate of appreciation, red blankets and sports materials were distributed to various DLOs, employees, police personnel, village chiefs/chairman, youth club while Pratik Dahal (7), s/o Tiken Dahal of Leimakhong, who has won gold and bronze medal in the All India Independence Cup Karate Championship, 2018 at New Delhi was also recognized for his outstanding achievements.

Haokholal Hangshing, chairman ADC Sadar Hills, Thangjakam Misao, vice-chairman, ADC Sadar Hills and members of ADC Sadar Hills, CEO SHADC, Kpi, DLOs of Kangpokpi District, Post Commander, 38 AR Kangpokpi Post, KWWO, KYU, village chiefs, students and parents attended the momentous celebration.

Meanwhile, the Independence Day was celebrated for the first time at Tujang Waichong sub-division of Kangpokpi district.

SDO/BDO of T Waichong and Champhai, Chunglenmang Kipgen (MCS), OC Chalwa Police Station Lunkhoseh and chief of T Waichong Lhunkhohen Kipgen graced the occasion as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.

Four parade contingents numbering more than 400 students from different Government High schools including Manireda, Gelnal, and T Waichong High School participated in the march past.

Speaking at the occasion, SDO Chunglenmang stated that we should stand for a united and peaceful Manipur in which all people cooperate and love each other.

He gave away prizes and certificates to all parade contingents.

Later, weapons show was conducted by the A-Coy of the 38 Assam Rifles.

Village chiefs of T Waichong TD Block, officials from government departments also attended the function.

In Kakching district, as celebrated across India and the State, District Administration Kakching celebrated the 72nd Independence Day at the ground of District Sports Association Kakching.

DC Neilenthang Telien (IAS), who has attended the celebration as chief guest, unfurled the tri-colour which was accompanied by P Shanker (MPS), SDPO, Kakching as Parade Commander.

Neilenthang Telein (IAS) received the parade salutation from the march past of 42 contingents including cultural troupe.

Delivering his chief guest speech, Neilenthang Telein said that India got Independence after a long struggle through non-violence movement while adding that we should use non-violence movement and democratic form of agitation while demanding our goal.

He continued that we saw a sea change in India post-Independence which is moving towards development consistently and urged the public for collective effort to transform India into an advanced nation.

On the occasion, certificate of appreciated were also distributed to sincere employees and honest police personnel while Iramdam Maheihol, Langmeidon emerged the best march past contingent, JNV, Umathel secured the second position and Padama Ratna English School finished third in the march past competition for women category.

For men's category, Iramdam Maheikol, Langmeidongna secured first position, Eureka Academy, Langmeidongna settled at second while Grace Cottage Cultural And Educational Development Foundation (Junior) Na finished at third position.

SP, Kakching Victoria Yengkhom, Councilors Kakching Municipal Council, DLOs of different department and prominent leaders attended the observance.

In Moreh, the 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at Additional Deputy Commissioner Moreh campus.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Moreh N Bankim attended the function as chief guest and hoisted the tri-colour while SDPO Sandip Gopaldash Moreh police, CDO Moreh DSP Th Thomas, OC Letkhohao, SDC Romeo and many officers also attended the event.

Live march past were carried out by the contingents of Manipur police, 8th Manipur Rifles and students of various schools in Moreh.

The celebration was also attended by many Govt officials, leaders of various communities, village chiefs and public.

Certificate and modest gifts were also distributed on the occasion.

Meanwhile, District Administration Tengnoupal also organised 72nd Independence Day celebration at Tengnoupal District headquarter.

DC A Tombi Kanta attended the function as chief guest and hoisted the National flag while Additional SP K Robinsun, Col Nector 12 Assam Rifle, Govt officials and public of the district attended the celebration.

On the other hand, 72nd Independence Day was also celebrated by 11 Assam Rifles, Moreh with zeal and fervour.

11 AR Moreh CO RS Rawat, higher rank officers, Myanmar Army Major Awang Myo Myint (C0-89BN), Officiating Commandant Lt Thet Min Nawng and Sgt Theinzawy (MASU) also attended the Independence Day celebration.

In Pherzawl, the Independence Day was celebrated at Pherzawl public ground and was attended by police personnel, 33rd Assam Rifles, village chiefs, CSO leaders and students from different institutions.

While paying respect and tribute to the freedom fighters, S Thienlaljoy Gangte, ADC stated that he was humbled by the enthusiasm of the district to usher development and urged the people to fight poverty without causing harm to the environment.

The district administration, although understaffed, also conducted Independence Day Football tournament with the final being played between Tuolbung Youth Club and Tinsuong Youth Club.

On the occasion, the chief guest also released IPR published magazine called 'Pherzawl Chronicles' while red blankets were distributed to the village chiefs, sports materials to youth clubs and commendation certificates to government employees.

Thirteen parade contingents participated in the Independence Day parade while seven cultural troupes and a band party from the Assam Rifles also performed on the occasion.

A free health camp was also organized by the CMO on the day.

In Noney district, the 72nd Independence Day Celebration was observed at Noney Police Station campus under Longmai (Noney) DHQ.

Hungyo Worshang (IAS) DC Noney, who has attended the function as chief guest, hoisted the National flag while Singsit (IPS), SP Noney attended the function as guest of honour.

On the occasion, Hungyo Worshang while extending warm wishes to the gatherings informed the public that Noney district has secured third position among open defecation free district (ODF) in Manipur.

Certificates and awards were distributed to the devoted employees while sport materials were also given to local clubs and red blanket to elders.

In Senapati district, Senapati District Administration celebrated the 72nd Independence Day at Mini Stadium ground.

DC Senapati district Somorjit Salam (IAS) hoisted the National Flag and took the salute of the parade contingents.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the spirit of 'Unity in Diversity' has kept our country as one solid unit for the past 71 years.

A lot of hard work and dedication from many far-sighted leaders has contributed to the unity and prosperity of our nation, he added.

He stated that on the 72nd Anniversary of India's Independence, the country have made various achievements like in the fields of Defence and Security, health, education, environment and development by adopting sustainable and robust models such as road, houses, toilet, electricity, cooking fuel and many more.

He said that the "Go To Village" mission launched by the Government of Manipur has been put forward in the District Administration to reach the eligible beneficiaries in the villages.

He also said that the Senapati is a home for many historical places, tourist potential spots with varying cultural heritage and many festivals.

Senapati also has the huge potentials of horticulture, floriculture, fishery, animal husbandry, eco- tourism, food processing, handloom and handicrafts, he further added.

He therefore appealed the people to explore their knowledge in the field of entrepreneurship and employment generation and urged the students to work harder for better and brighter tomorrow through self discipline and integrity.

He lauded and appreciated the Civil Societies Organization leaders for the cooperation towards the District Administration.

He also appealed for peace atmosphere and social harmony in the district.

The parade commander was led by ADSP Semmi Ramror (MPS) while 39 contingents comprise of both school and security personnel partake in the march past.

Cultural dances and folk song were also performed in the function.

Twelve commendation certificates were hand over to various outstanding department Officers and Officials, seven commendation certificates to Security personal and ten red blankets to village chiefs on the 72nd Independence Day.

All the DLO's and various Civil Societies leaders attended the celebration.

In Tamenglong, the District Administration of Tamenglong celebrated the 72nd Indian Independence Day with much fervour at Lower Ground in Tamenglong District Headquarter to pay tribute to the freedom fighters who had contributed a lot and fought for the Independence of India.

DC Tamenlong Ravinder Singh (IAS), unfurled the national flag and took the march past contingent Independence Day salute from Joshia Pamei SDPO Tamenlong Police Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Singh reminded about the invaluable contributions and sacrifices made by our leaders and freedom fighters for the nation.

Citing the incident of the recent heavy rain that led to landslides taking lives of many people mostly children, he urged the people of Tamenglong to be careful while constructing the houses and shops in landslides prone areas of Tamenglong.

Altogether 34 contingents have participated in the Independence Day march past while credential certificates were also given to ten Government officials department of Tamenglong, red blanket and sports materials were also distributed to the public of Tamenglong as Independence Day gift.

In Chandel district, the 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at Maha Govt Hr Sec School ground, Chandel.

DC Chandel Krishna Kumar hoisted the National flag while 31 parade contingents commanded by N Nobin Singh, Assistant Commandant, 8 MR, Leikun Chandel participated in the march past.

SP Chandel Angam Kamei Romanus, CO 8 MR, Chandel S Somorjit Singh, Addl SP, Syed Abdul Samad, CEO, ADC Chandel Km Julie Anal, ADC/ADM Chandel Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meetei, ACs to DC, DLOs, village chiefs and a large number of people attended the function.

In Ccpur, the 72nd Independence Day was celebrated under the auspices of District Administration, Ccpur with grandeur at Peace ground, Tuibong, Churachandpur.

V Hangkhanlian, Minister (Agri, Vety & AH) hoisted the National tri-colour and took salute of record number of 74 parade contingents led by Johny Sharma (MPS) SDPO, Churachandpur comprising of CRPF, BSF, ex-servicemen, civil police, VDF, NCC units, and school students.

Hoisting the National flag, Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian, who was the chief guest of the celebration function, said that the State Government is quite concerned and is ever committed to bring equitable development in the State with sustainable livelihood generation through agriculture and allied sectors.

The Minister stressed on the need to focus on alternate means for gainful employment for which entrepreneur is the need of the hour.
