Border Pillar inspected

As part of his ongoing outreach programme, Heirok Assembly Constituency MLA Dr Thokchom Radheshyam paid an exploratory visit to the Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No 127, passing through the frontier village of Poi in Ukhrul district yesterday.
On his official Facebook page, the Heirok AC MLA shared a video where he is seen interacting with the youth of Poi village.
In the video, he is also seen inspecting the condition of Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No 127 and surrounding areas.
He reportedly walked by foot for 3 and a half hours from Poi village to reach the site as further vehicular travel was not possible.
Thokchom Radheshyam said it had been a long-time dream of his to visit the BP 127 and called it a "moment of great fulfilment" to have reached this significant landmark.
The pillar which was rumoured to have been broken has been found in good condition, he said.
Admiring its natural beauty, he commented that the border area is more beautiful than the 27 countries he has visited, which include Switzerland, Hungary, Rome, Poland, UK etc.
Expressing his wish to carry out development initiatives in the region, he spoke about the eco-tourism potential of the hills areas of Manipur in the video.
In this regard, he sought the help and cooperation of talented young minds who wish to incorporate Manipur into the world map of eco-tourism.
It is worth noting that Poi is a small village located 68 kms to the north of Ukhrul with a population of over 2000 people and Chingai as its sub-district headquarters.
It is located 6 kms away from Chingai.
Other villages in its vicinity include Challou, Chingai, Ngahui, Kuirei, Marem, Huishu, and Khamasom.
They are well-known for apple farming.
