Acting on specific information about the presence of militant cadres in general area Marwari Patti of Dimapur town a team of 24 Assam Rifles was activated which quickly reached the area and vigil was established to keep the area under continues surveillance on Saturday and nabbed to Manipur based militants.
Confirming the report on Sunday, sources in Inspector General of Assam Rifles-North (IGAR-N) said that a patrolling party of 24 AR noticed the militant cadres in the process of extorting money from a shop and immediately nabbed them.
The two apprehended cadres were identified as Rabindro Sharma and K Dolendra Singh of Thoubal district in Manipur and they belong to the banned outfit KYKL based in Manipur.
Tax receipts of KYKL, a large amount of Indian and Korean currency notes including SBI ATM Cards were recovered from their possession, according to Assam Rifles source.
The cadres were later handed over to Dimapur East Police
Station.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles sources revealed that they have activated special teams to keep sensitive areas of Dimapur under surveillance with an aim to thwart any attempt by underground groups to carry out any unlawful activity vitiating peace and security of the area.
